If you’re looking at getting an iPhone for yourself, you may be wondering what model may be best for you. There have been a lot of changes to the iPhone over the past few years, and there are 17 model variations still readily available on the market for you to choose from.

We’ll go over some of the significant points of each phone model along with general price guidelines you can expect right now of the most popular line of smartphones on the market.

We’ll go back to 2014 with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and start with the newest phones, the iPhone 11 and it’s variations of the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

The flagship model is the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Storage: Released late 2019, the iPhone 11 Pro Max comes in three storage capacities of 64, 256, and 512 gigabytes of storage.

Camera: On the back is Apple’s new triple 12 megapixel cameras with wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto options.

Security: For security, it has the latest version of Apple’s Face ID facial recognition technology.

Prices in USA: These are available new from $1,099 to $1,449 and used from about $1,000 to $1,300.

One step down from there is the iPhone 11 Pro, also released late 2019.

Storage: It comes in the same storage capacities as the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 64, 256, and 512 gigabytes of storage.

Colors: It comes with same color choices of silver, space gray, gold, and midnight green.

Size: It has a slightly smaller 5.8-inch display and a stainless steel band around the glass frame. It measures at 5.67 inches tall, 2.81 inches wide, .32 inches deep, and weighs 6.63 ounces.

Camera: It also includes the Super Retina XDR display and A13 bionic chip and the triple 12-megapixel cameras with wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto options. The Face ID facial recognition security is also included.

Price: These are available new from $999 to $1,349 and used from about $700 to $900.

The base iPhone 11 that came out with the same group has a few differences between them and the pro.

Storage: It does have the same three storage levels of 64, 128, and 256 gigabytes but comes in six colors, including purple, green, yellow, black, white, and their PROJECT(red) specialty.

Size: It splits the difference of the pro models with a 6.1 inch display and an anodized aluminum band around the glass frame. It measures at 5.94 inches tall, 2.98 inches wide, and .33 inches deep and weighs in at 6.84 ounces.

Display: Its display is the Liquid Retina HD display and has the same A13 Bionic chip.

Cameras: It only has a dual 12-megapixel camera cluster with wide and ultrawide lenses but does have the same Face ID facial recognition.

Prices: These go for $699-$849 for a new model and $650 to $800 used.

The now “late model” iPhone XS and XR was a stepping stone from the previous year’s flagship iPhone X.

Storage: At the top of the line is the iPhone XS Max which came in 64, 256, and 512-gigabyte models

Colors: It comes in three colors; silver, space gray, and gold.

Display: The XS Max has a 6.5-inch display that has a stainless steel band around the glass frame.

Size: It measures at 6.20 inches tall, 3.05 inches wide, and 0.30 inches deep with a weight of 7.34 ounces.

Chip: It has a Super Retina HD display and contains Apple’s A12 Bionic chip.

Camera: It has a dual front-facing 12-megapixel camera with wide and telephoto lenses and Face ID facial recognition.

Prices: It currently goes for $849-$999 for a new unit or $600-$750 for a used one.

The middle unit of this series is the iPhone XS.

Size: With the same three sizes of 64, 256, and 512 gigabytes

Colors: The same three colors of silver, space gray, and gold.
Display: The XS has a 5.8-inch display with a stainless steel band around the frame.

Size: It measures 5.65 inches tall, 2.79 inches wide, 0.30 inches deep, and weighs 6.24 ounces. It also, like the XS Ma, has the Super Retina display and A12 Bionic chip.

Camera: It features dual 12 megapixel wide and telephoto cameras and Face ID security. It runs from $699-$849 new and $500-$650 used.

The first of Apple’s glass frame phones, the iPhone X was a game-changer in 2017.

Storage: It comes in two sizes, the 64 and 256-gigabyte storage and a 5.8-inch display with a stainless steel band wrapping around.

Size: The X measures at 5.65 inches tall, 2.79 inches wide, 0.30 inches deep, and weighs 6.14 ounces.

Chip: It was the first device with the Super Retina HD display and had the A11 Bionic chip.

The budget iPhone from 2016 was the iPhone SE.

It came in four storage levels of 16, 32, 64, and 128 gigabytes and the four colors space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.

It had a four-inch display and had an anodized aluminum front with a stainless steel inset and measured 4.87 inches tall, 2.31 inches wide, .3 inches deep, and weighed 3.99 ounces.

It had a standard Retina display, the A9 chip, 12-megapixel camera, and Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

They currently go for anywhere between $100 and $150

In 2015 there were two iPhone models released, the 6s and 6s Plus.

They both come in 16, 32, 64, and 128 gigabytes and the same four colors of space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.

 As you can tell, each iPhone has some unique changes as you get to the newer models, but they all cost a little bit more as you go up the chain.

They are available through all the major carriers still, although the older models may be more challenging to find one made specifically for your carrier, and an unlocked version will be required.

The newer models, including the iPhone 11 and variants, are currently hard to find used, and the price difference between new and used is minimal, meaning going through your carrier will likely be a better deal.
