A few years ago, Samsung phones used to be the most popular phones imported and shipped from the U.S. to Kenya, but lately, Apple iPhones have taken the lead.

I've been an iPhone user for more than 15 years, and while I admire Samsung Galaxy's simplicity and clarity of their videos and images, I'm not ready to switch from an iPhone to a Samsung phone.

2. Samsung Phones

The second most shipped phone from the US to Kenya is definitely a Samsung phone, the Samsung S series. Samsung Notes are some of the most popular phones, but we still see other lesser models like the A series.

3. Sony Xperia

At some point in Kenya, Sony Xperia was a popular and sought-after phone, even more than the iPhone was. For some reason, Sony Xperia is no longer as hot as it used to be. The position has, however, been taken by another phone.

4. The Google Pixel

In my opinion, Google Pixel phones are better than iPhones, but iPhones are better marketed and so popular. It is rare you will hear somebody bragging about having a Google Pixel. Actually, quite a bit of people are buying Google Pixel and shipping them to Kenya.

Where to buy phones in the U.S.

- If you want to buy a Google Pixel, you buy from google.com.

- If you want to buy a Samsung Galaxy without risking buying a counterfeit, you buy from samsung.com.

Where to buy refurbished phones in the U.S.

If you are looking to buy a refurbished phone of any kind, especially an iPhone, my favorite is Swappa.com. You can also buy from Amazon.com because they vet and verify the items and sellers. I would, however, be careful buying from eBay. It is very likely and easy to buy a counterfeit phone shipped from China on eBay.

Where I wouldn't buy a phone that costs more than $300

If you're planning to spend more than $300 to buy a phone, it is tempting to go to the black market and buy from there. I'm not saying that this is not a legit website, but we've had a lot of conmanship happening on that website. You buy, say, for example, an iPhone 17, and the seller would Ship a less expensive phone like an iPhone 12, and there is not so much you can do about it.

This is the reason I would avoid back market and eBay if you're going to spend that kind of money.

I would rather pay $20 or $50 more and get from sources that I know for sure the phones they are selling are legit, and I cannot lose my money.

All you need to do is to create a shipping account, and you can use your address to shop and ship from any store in the U.S. to Kenya.
