What Are Receivers?

Receivers are people authorized to receive your packages in Kenya. They can be you, family members, friends, or business associates.

How It Works

  1. Add Receiver: Enter their details (name, phone, email)
  2. Verify Phone: We send verification code to confirm
  3. Select at Checkout: Choose receiver for each order
  4. Delivery Coordination: Receiver gets SMS when package ready
  5. Collection: Receiver shows ID to collect package

Adding Receivers

Required Information

Name (Required)

  • First and last name
  • Must match their national ID
  • Used for verification at collection
  • Cannot contain special characters

Phone Number (Required)

  • Valid Kenyan mobile number
  • Format: 07XX XXX XXX or +2547XX XXX XXX
  • Must be reachable for delivery coordination
  • Verification required

Email (Optional)

  • Receiver gets delivery notifications
  • Order tracking link sent here
  • Not required but recommended

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Navigate to Receivers: Click "Receivers" in dashboard menu, or during checkout click "Add New Receiver"
  2. Fill in Details: Enter full name (as on ID), mobile phone number, optionally add email, click "Save"
  3. Verify Phone Number: Verification code sent via SMS, enter 6-digit code, code valid for 10 minutes
  4. Receiver Added: Appears in your receivers list, available for selection at checkout

  • Confirms receiver can be reached
  • Reduces failed delivery attempts

Security

  • Verifies receiver is real person
  • Prevents fraudulent collections
  • Protects your packages

  • Proof of delivery notifications

Verification Process

  1. Add receiver with phone number
  2. Click "Verify" next to phone number
  3. SMS code sent immediately (usually within 30 seconds)
  4. Enter 6-digit code
  5. Phone marked as verified ✓

Didn't Receive Code?

Check These First:

  • Phone number entered correctly
  • Phone has signal
  • SMS inbox not full
  • No SMS blocking apps

Then: Click "Resend Code" and wait 60 seconds between attempts


Managing Your Receivers

Editing Receivers

What Can Be Edited

  • Name (requires re-verification)
  • Phone number (triggers new verification)
  • Email address (no verification needed)
  • Notes (internal, not shown to receiver)

Important: Name changes require ID match at pickup. Phone changes need immediate verification.

Deleting Receivers

When to Delete

  • No longer need to ship to them
  • Wrong person added
  • Duplicate entry
  • Phone number inactive

Can't Delete If

  • Active order using this receiver
  • Order in transit
  • Package ready for pickup

Wait until order completed, then delete.

Setting Default Receiver

  • Benefits: Auto-selected at checkout, saves time for regular shipments
  • How to Set: Receivers page → Star icon next to preferred receiver
  • Change default anytime

Delivery Coordination

Automatic Notifications

Receiver gets SMS when:

  • Package clears customs
  • Arrives at pickup location
  • Ready for collection
  • Delivery scheduled (for home delivery)

Pickup Requirements

What Receiver Needs

  • National ID: Must match name in system
  • Order Number: Provided in SMS
  • Phone: May be verified at collection point

Collection Process

  1. Receiver goes to pickup location
  2. Provides order number and ID
  3. Staff verifies identity
  4. Package handed over
  5. Receiver signs for package
  6. You get delivery confirmation

  • Add office manager as receiver
  • Include "Attention: [Department]" in notes
  • Designate backup receiver

Multiple Locations

  • Different receiver per branch
  • Name receivers: "Nairobi Branch - John"
