The iPhone X was announced on September 12, 2017, and released on November 3.
As the name implies, iPhone Ten, the phone was launched to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Apple iPhone release.
The most distinguishing feature of the iPhone X is the design.
It was the first time the iPhone world was seeing an iPhone without a home button.
It also came with a revolutionary Face ID unlocking system that later found its way into top Android devices. There is a newer OLED panel that gave way to the usual LCD display panel.
Interestingly, what was a birthday accessory turned out to be one of the best iPhone models ever made.
It made fantastic numbers within the first few months. But in September 2018, Apple retired the iPhone X, after launching the iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR.
These models are sold alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7.
In this article, we will be discussing the important things you need to know about the beautiful iPhone X device. If you are ready, let’s go!
Let’s start by getting familiar with the specifications of the iPhone X.
The iPhone X is slightly larger than the iPhone 8 and thicker than the iPhone 8 plus. The glass front and back, alongside the seven-layer color process, add to the visual appeal of the phone. The home button has been removed, leaving the phone with a full front screen. There is a slight camera bump at the back, which houses the rear cameras.
The iPhone X screen is the best screen you will ever find on an iPhone before the introduction of the iPhone XS. The colors are bright and vibrant, thanks to the 5.8-inches, rounded corner OLED screen, which covers almost the entire front surface. Unlike the LCD panels, the full-color P3 OLED panel boasts a 625 cd/m2 max brightness and one million:1 contrast ratio. The PPI is 458 alongside a super retina HD display. There is a notch at the top, which hardly gets in the way, but houses the multi-faceted Front Camera.
The 64-bit A11 Bionic Chip in the iPhone X clocked at 2.4GHz comes with a neural engine and M11 motion coprocessor. Unlike the previous A10, the A11 has four high-efficiency cores and a total of six cores. This processor powers the new facial recognition system in the iPhone X. Multitasking is great with a 3GB RAM.
The rear camera setup comprises 2x 12 MP sensors, i.e., a wide-angle f/1.8 camera and a telephoto f/2.4 camera. There are six-element lenses, a crystal lens cover, and a backside illumination. Other features of the rear Camera include a quad-LED True Tone flash, dual optical image stabilization, auto image stabilization, and a hybrid IR filter, among others.
The cameras can take a 12MP and 63 MP photographs and execute swift body and face detection processes. Likewise, the rear cameras will record a 4K video at 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps. You can also record a 1080p and 720p video conveniently.
There is a single front-facing 7MP with f/2.2 TrueDepth Camera with amazing processing capabilities, thanks to the A11 bionic processor.
At 2,716mAH, the iPhone X battery is larger than what you have in the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 (2,691mAH and 1,821mAH, respectively). The maximum talk time is set to 21 hours, internet use at 12 hours, and wireless video playback at13 hours. You can get up to 60 hours of wireless audio playback.
The phone supports a 5-watt wireless charging capability, alongside a fast-charge capability that delivers 50% juice in 30 minutes.
As you would expect, a phone as good as the iPhone X will come with a somewhat high price. At launch, the iPhone X price was set at $999 for the 64GB model. The larger 256GB model is priced at $1,149. However, the advent of new iPhone models – iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max – led to a drop in the prices. The iPhone X offers a starting price of around $900 – quite expensive even after a year.
At the moment, the Apple online store offers refurbished iPhone X 64GB model at a starting price of $599, while the 256GB starts at $699. This price point applies to both the Space Gray and Silver colored variants.
As stated earlier, you will not find the iPhone X in the line-up of Apple’s smartphone at the moment. Apple had to drop this particular model to accommodate the newly-released and current flagship iPhone 11 series launched last year. The series comprises the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Despite being dropped officially, you can cop your impressive iPhone X from trusted retailers and carriers around you. If you want an iPhone X, now is the time to make a move – the demand is higher, and the supply evidently lower.
Excellent alternatives to the iPhone X are the iPhone XR, iPhone 8, and the iPhone 8 Plus. If you are willing to spend slightly more, the iPhone 11 series is your best bet.
