Apple has in the recent past not only strived to make notable improvements on the classic MacBook Air but also cut its starting price.
They have done all this in a bid to make it the number one choice for creatives, students, and everyone else.
If you take a close look at the brand new version of 13-inch MacBook Air versus that of 2019, it is kind of hard to tell them apart.
They look quite identical until the lids are opened. The 2020 version has a whole new feel and looks when it comes to the keyboard.
The usual super-flat island-like keyboard has been raised slightly on the brand new version.
Apple calls this new type of keyboard, The Magic Keyboard. The keyboard design was first seen in the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2016). It is based on iMac's standalone Magic Keyboard.
This will come as a relief to those who have suffered from the butterfly keyboard installed in the recent versions of MacBooks, which has led to general customer dissatisfaction.
This new kind of keyboard has been the main selling point for this new Air version.
It is a winner since it solves a problem caused by Apple's previous designs. The result is very much satisfactory coupled up with the component changes and the affordable starting price of $999.
Do not get this wrong, though. The brand new keyboard style is not the only fascinating thing about the new laptop.

This is after Apple realized that they were setting some really high starting prices with no significant component changes, making customers opt not to upgrade.
The only catch is that the classic starting price is for the ones with Intel Corei3 CPUs. Do not expect the Core i5 ones for that price.
That said, everything else about this beast is good if not excellent. Users get new options for CPU upgrades, including the famous quad-core Intel's tenth generation chips.
Also, the default storage is the usual measly 128GB but a more significant 256GB. Moreover, Apple stepped up its game with Intel Iris graphics that do not need extra hardware from Nvidia or AMD.
The MacBook Air family has, for a long time, been considered one of the most universally useful machines that you can purchase.
Majorly because its pricing is student-friendly, and its components are way better than those in the world of Windows that a retailed for the same price.
Some laptops brands might brag about their unmatched processor speeds. Still, the MacBook Air had a unibody aluminum shell, a relatively slim body, an almost perfect keyboard, and an operating system that improved user experience.
Over the past five years, the Air model fell behind the completion because Apple chose to cling on to its design plus other specifications even as other laptop brands upgraded entire systems.
In 2018, Apple saw it fit to give this family of laptops a much-awaited reboot by adding a high-resolution camera, touch ID, and thinner bezels.
They also changed the usual keyboard with a much-maligned keyboard with a butterfly mechanism.
All these upgraded enabled them to kick up the starting price. For the most part, it felt like a mistake than a reboot.
This is because the previous $999 was an essential financial and psychological barrier for creatives, writers, and students who need reliable laptops on a budget.
Customers who have bought this beast have attested to the fact that its keyboard undoubtedly stands out as the main selling point.
Visibly, the keys look raised slightly higher than those of the previous iterations. Unlike the last incarnations where one would wonder if keystrokes were registered, this new MacBook Air’s keyboard eliminates that and brings about a satisfying heft when typing.
It is not that hard to tell the difference between this keyboard and the older one if you use them side by side.
It was high time that apple changed the long-suffering keyboard with a butterfly mechanism. It has been a long time coming, but the Magic keyboard is here for the rescue.
The super-flat boring keyboard style was introduced way back in 2015 with the 12-Inch MacBook.
What Apple did not realize until it was too late was that most of their users hated this style of keyboard, which is why it kept on creeping across the MacBook Product line (both Air and Pro models).
Even though the previous keyboard went through a series of tiny revisions annually, people still kept complaining about lots of malfunctions which included stuck keys among others.
Then came the 2019 version of MacBook Pro (16 –inch). The laptop did not only make a major move by doing away with the antiquated MacBook Pro screen (15-inch), it also did away with the butterfly keyboard by replacing it with an almost similar design that had a lot better mechanism beneath it.
This is why Apple saw it wise to incorporate the same style of a keyboard onto the new MacBook Air (2020), which leaves the 13-inch MacBook Pro as the least updated machine of the Apple laptops line.
The only drawback for both non-budget and budget MacBook Air laptops is the fact that they usually come with relatively smaller storage drives.
Even the latest reboot of the MacBook Air (2018) which is quite expensive for some, only comes packed with a tiny 128GB Solid State Drive.
We can all agree that if you install the OS, have some PC games and applications such as Illustrator and Photoshop, and you've stored some of your high-resolution videos and photos, a 128GB storage will not suffice.
Usually, only video editors and gamers require 1TB or more storage capacity for their work. If you don't want to seem like you are micromanaging your storage every godforsaken time, then 256GB SSD will just be enough for you.
For both the base version (with 128GB default SSD) and the step-up version (with 512 default SSD), you get a standard 8GB of RAM.
That is not to say that you are not at liberty to upgrade to 16GB RAM. You can do so for an extra $200.
There is no telling that we welcome the idea of a better keyboard, more storage, better graphics, and the tenth generation intel quad-core processors in the new MacBook Air versions.
Only that the $999 base version of the 2020 Mac Air is designed with a dual-core i3 processor which is, as it is now, not so premium-like; this is because Core i3 is found in even the cheapest of laptops worldwide.
For the users who would wish to upgrade the base processor to the quad-core Core i5, you will be charged an extra $100, which will prove to be a brilliant investment in the long run.
The new lightweight MacBook Air 13 inch (2020) makes it portable for short as well as long-distance travelers. It also occupies a minimal space as it's small in size.
The battery life is long enough for you to work as you travel. This MacBook Air is also compatible with other Apple devices.
It's quite fast and reliable when it comes to storage as it has a substantial memory for multitasking.
You can also upgrade your memory to the desired capacity but at an extra cost.
For a good quality product, MacBook Air 13 (2020) is well improved. It's cost-effective to buy it from the USA than it is to buy it locally.
